Evidently I live in the United States of American, so-called ‘ the land of the free’ and ‘home of the brave’. Yet, as you will astonishingly read in an upcoming book entitled Have A Nice Day, ‘free’ and ‘brave’ are relative in the life of a ‘targeted individual’ often termed, ‘TI’. ‘My own life has drastically changed from what was basically a sane, quiet and mostly comfortable existence into such a bizarre fiasco that even I myself can not recognize it anymore. Saturday, September 18, 2010 was my third (3rd) birthday that I was forced to spend with the psychotic freaks who kidnapped my life and have held it hostage for over several years. Now, it is March 2011 - - and, I am for certain that they have been in my life for many more years previously without my knowledge. According to my birthdate, I am a Virgo if you follow such trends. Most of the Virgos that I have known (both personally and celebrities), are somewhat reserved, private individuals, some may even use the word ‘shy’. However, since I am one of 9 children, some could argue that I have never had the so-called luxury of being referred to as ‘shy’, per say, but I am probably not atypical of an ordinary Virgo in my preferences to privacy. I once had an uncle (born in late September) who was [according to rumor] so very private that his burial preference was cremation because he disliked the idea of having people stare upon him in his death. My mother said she felt this was the actual reason; but his wife said it was the least expensive burial.
A famous actress held the same birthdate as I. Her name was Greta Garbo (18 September 1905 - 15 April 1990). She was a Swedish actress primarily known for her work in the United States during Hollywood's silent film period and part of its subsequent Golden Age. Once moving to Hollywood, she appeared in only 27 movies, yet she remains one of the most popular and recognizable Hollywood stars. The MGM marketing ploy "Garbo talks" became a catch phrase of the 1930s. Her popularity with the Depression-era audiences allowed her to dictate the terms of her contract in 1932, and she became increasingly choosy about her roles. After 1941, she accepted no more roles, and retired to an apartment in New York City. Regarded as one of the greatest and most inscrutable movie stars ever produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and the Hollywood studio system, Ms. Garbo appeared in both the silent and the talkies era of filmmaking. Ms. Garbo apparently became frequently quoted by her single phrase of: “I just want to be left alone”. This jargon was taken from a movie she is often associated with by her famous line, a line the American Film Institute in 2005 voted the 30th most memorable movie quote of all time, as the Russian ballerina Grusinskaya in Grand Hotel (1932): “I want to be alone (...) I just want to be alone.” A theme echoed in several of her other roles, e.g. in The Single Standard (1929) where her character Arden Stuart 'spoke' the line: "I am walking alone because I want to be alone" and in Love (1927) where a title card read, "I like to be alone." By the early 1930s the phrase was indelibly linked with Ms. Garbo's persona, but Ms. Garbo later commented: “I never said, 'I want to be alone.' I only said, 'I want to be let alone.' There is all the difference.”
Even in the early days of her career, Ms. Garbo was reclusive; she seldom signed autographs, rarely attended social functions, answered no fan mail, and she gave few interviews. Her refusal to give interviews gave rise to the press reporter jargon "pulling a Garbo" or "going Garbo" referring to any such actions.
In her surprise interview granted to the press onboard the liner Kungsholm on 7 October 1938 in New York after Ms. Garbo had returned from her summer vacation in Europe partly spent with conductor Leopold Stokowski, Ms. Garbo was asked if she had enjoyed her vacation? Sighing huskily, she replied, "You cannot have a vacation without peace and you cannot have peace unless left alone."
I understand that single statement all too well. Ms. Garbo and I shared more than a birthdate (9/18) in common; “You can not have peace unless left alone.” As a targeted individual [TI] to say that my life was turned upside down is the understatement of the century! I am not an actress nor obviously have I ever play one on television; however, if one goes by my life of several years, they may, in all probability, have a hard time believing that. I have valid reason to believe that I am as often under surveillance as any actor or actress. Imagine being surveillanced while you daily dress, undress and bath. Now, imagine being surveillanced while you are having sex. How humiliated would you become if you knew someone was surveillancing you while masturbating or doing any of the very private acts that human beings perform? How about being surveillanced during an annual trip to the gynecologist office? How about being surveillanced as you cast your vote in a voting booth? Sounds like some perverted, twisted scene from a science fiction episode or Twilight Zone episode, doesn’t it? Try this. What do you suppose could cause an African American woman of dark complexioned skin to suddenly have blonde pubic hair? How about blonde eyebrows? Yes, of course, I am only speaking from personal experiences. Do you imagine it is fun to hear your voice continuously echo while on your cell phone? Well, you would be right. This is hilariously fun and I thoroughly enjoy it each and every time it occurs. Not!!!!
